School Disco

The Stromlo High School SRC is holding a School Disco on Wednesday 13th November (Week 5, Term 4) for all students to attend. The disco will run from 6:00pm until 9:00pm and will be supervised by staff and a security guard will also be present throughout the night.

Entry to the disco is only $5 and all money raised from the disco will go towards some exciting new projects around the school next year. The SRC is also running a Canteen during the night and will be selling soft drinks, plenty of chocolate, lots of lollies and other tasty (and nutritious) snacks.

We are encouraging all students to attend the disco to support the school, have a good time with their friends and farewell Year 10 in a safe and friendly environment! Students who wish to come to the Disco need to ensure they collect a permission note from their TEAM Teacher, the Front Office or Student Services.

More than 1,000 attend Parent & Teacher Interviews

More than 1,000 Stromlo Community members participated in our recent Parent & Teacher Interview evening on Wednesday 16th October. Visual Artworks and Textile projects were on display and there were plenty of student helpers to assist parents and serve tasty treats.

World Vision 40 Hour Famine Fundraising Results

The World Vision 40 Hour Famine was held at Stromlo High School on Friday 30th August – Sunday 1st September (Week 6, Term 3). It was a fantastic success, with 34 students from participating in the challenge to raise money to help fund the World Vision projects in Malawi, Ethiopia, East Timor, Nepal, Tanzania and Uganda. The 40 Hour Famine was made into a House Competition with each Sports House competing to raise the most money and win a free barbecue, hosted by the SRC.

Oakey won the free barbecue, having raised a grand total of $2499.00! The total amount raised by students at Stromlo High School was an amazing $5986.85, which was more than any other school in South Canberra! This is an amazing effort by Stromlo High School and a real credit to our student leaders, Max Jasinski, Andrew MacMillan and Ruby Whalan who organised and ran the 40 Hour Famine and did a fantastic job at getting students inspired about stopping childhood hunger.

Dance Festival Stromlo 2013

Congratulations to everyone who participated in The 2013 Ausdance ACT Youth Dance Festival.

RSPCA Cupcake Day 2013

RSPCA Cupcake Day is being held on Tuesday 24th September (Week 10) to raise money to support our sponsored kennel at the RSPCA in Weston Creek. We are asking Stromlo High School students to make and donate cupcakes that can be sold on the day. If students could please bring any cupcakes to the main staffroom before school that would be much appreciated. Ensure that all containers and lids are clearly labelled so that they can be returned at the end of the day. We are aiming to beat our previous fundraising effort of $400, so it would be wonderful if students could get board and support this excellent organisation!

Stromlo Athletics Carnival

The Stromlo High Athletics Carnival is fast approaching.  The event will be taking place on the 12th of September, at the Chapman playing fields.  PE classes are currently practisng the various disciplines so that all students can confidently participate on the day.  PE staff will be organising music, barbeques, dancing and of course, a well-run carnival that includes all the major events.  This will be a normal school day and we look forward to seeing all students there to represent their Houses!

Daffodil Day 2013

The SRC will be selling fresh Daffodils during Week 4 to raise money for Daffodil Day and the Cancer Council. Students can order them at Recess or Lunch at the stall that will be set up on the outside Canteen Steps. Daffodils will cost 1 for $2 or 5 (bunch) for $7 and students can write a special message to go on them! The daffodils will be delivered to students on Thursday 22nd August (Week 5). Please help us to raise money to support people in our community that are affected by cancer.
