Lake Tuggeranong College Transition Day

The schools in the South Weston Network are offering an excursion to Lake Tuggeranong College as part of the transition process from high school to college.  Lake Tuggeranong College aims to support the students enrolled there for 2015 in a smooth transition from Mount Stromlo High School.  This visit enables students to ask questions, make friends and become more familiar with the college and its expectations.

This excursion will take place on Thursday 20th November (Week 6) from 11:30am-3:15pm. Year 10 students who have enrolled at Lake Tuggeranong College in 2015 will come to school for their first two classes and then leave at 11:30am, transported to the college on the school bus or in teacher’s cars. The teacher in charge of this event will be Julia Gale and Lake Tuggeranong College staff.

If students are interested in attending this excursion, they need to return their completed permission notes and medical forms to Julia Gale by Tuesday 18th November (Week 6).

More than 1,000 attend Parent & Teacher Interviews

World Vision 40 Hour Famine Fundraising Results

The World Vision 40 Hour Famine was held at Stromlo High School on Friday 30th August – Sunday 1st September (Week 6, Term 3). It was a fantastic success, with 34 students from participating in the challenge to raise money to help fund the World Vision projects in Malawi, Ethiopia, East Timor, Nepal, Tanzania and Uganda. The 40 Hour Famine was made into a House Competition with each Sports House competing to raise the most money and win a free barbecue, hosted by the SRC.

Oakey won the free barbecue, having raised a grand total of $2499.00! The total amount raised by students at Stromlo High School was an amazing $5986.85, which was more than any other school in South Canberra! This is an amazing effort by Stromlo High School and a real credit to our student leaders, Max Jasinski, Andrew MacMillan and Ruby Whalan who organised and ran the 40 Hour Famine and did a fantastic job at getting students inspired about stopping childhood hunger.
