Indonesian Day at the ANU

On Thursday 24th of October, “Bu Ce” (Ms Edwards, the Indonesian teacher at Stromlo) will be taking Indonesian students to an exciting event run by the ANU Faculty of Asian Studies.

Indonesia Day is a free event, open to ANU students as well as secondary school students from the ACT and the surrounding region. It will immerse students in the rich and unique culture that Indonesia has to offer. This year’s event will commence with a presentation by an ex-Indonesian studies student followed by a musical performance. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in various workshops in Indonesian language, music and dance followed by a traditional Indonesian lunch. At the end of the day students will be invited to participate as a group in the traditional Papuan ‘Sarjojo’ dance.

Indonesia Day 2013 is sure to be a fun-filled day that will equip students with a new set of skills and a deeper understanding of our closest Asian neighbour.

Permission notes have been sent home with year 7 Indonesian students – please get them back by Monday 21st or contact Ms Edwards in the English faculty for a new note.

In order to encourage students to engage with social media on the day the organisers of the event would like to publish photos of the students on the College of Asia and the Pacific facebook page. If you would like to give consent for this, please fill out this survey:
