Entertainment Books

The current fundraiser for Stromlo High P&C Association is coming to an end.
‘The Entertainment Book is a local restaurant and activity guide which provides valuable offers from the finest restaurants, activities and hotels’.  New to the book this year is Crust Pizza having 3 separate vouchers for 1 free large pizza when another large pizza of equal or greater value is purchased.  So if you use the 3 Crust Pizza vouchers over the next 11 months with a large pizza being about $20, that’s your $60 back.  There are also many vouchers for everyday purchases such as groceries, petrol and more.
The 2013/2014 books are valid until 30 June next year and are $60.  $12 from each book go to Stromlo High P&C Association to fund purchases for the school.

ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Association

This is the parent voice on public education.

Currently there is parent training for participation in the P&C offered on June 27th and 29th. See the website for details.

Next year the P&C will need new parents to become involved as students finish their journey with Stromlo High School. Consider whether you can do your bit for your children’s school.

Show appreciation for and encourage our teachers by nominating them for the Australian Scholarships Group National Excellence in Teaching Awards for inspirational educators. Thanks to Kerry Ginman for volunteering to take up the treasurer’s role. We welcome Kerry to the P&C.

The school canteen NEEDS YOU! Are you free to assist the staff in the canteen on a voluntary basis? It is great fun to help out and get to know your children’s school on a cozier basis!

The next P&C meeting is on June 17th at 7.30pm in the main staff room at the school.

Urgently Required: Treasurer for P&C

The current Treasurer of the Stromlo High School P&C has had to resign for family reasons.

We would like to expess our gratitude to Cassandra Inkley for her diligent work as treasurer. Her contribution has been greatly appreciated by all.

Announcement of P&C AGM, General Meeting and Information Session

The Stromlo High School P&C invites all parents to the following upcoming events:

Annual General Meeting

7:00 pm 18 March 2013

All P&C positions will be declared vacant. Positions available are:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • P&C Council Delegate
  • Public Officer
  • Canteen committee (3-8 positions)
  • Parent representative to the School Board (1)

Descriptions of these positions are available on the P&C website, as are the annual reports. The P&C website is located under “school community” on school website.

Nominations can be submitted to President, Jenny Usher on jellgu@iinet.net.au or to Secretary, Elizabeth Low on cnorton@pcug.org.au Nominations will also be accepted on the night.

Please help support the school by becoming part of the P&C.

General Meeting

7:30 pm 18 March 2013 – All welcome

This meeting includes an information session by Ms Kate Bolton on behaviour management including bullying.

P&C Bulb Fundraiser

Stromlo P&C Association is running a Bulb Fundraiser this term to raise money to go towards the refurbishment of the Science Theatrette.
Please ask your family, friends and neighbours if they would like to help our fundraising and purchase bulbs that will bloom in gardens next spring.

Additional order forms are available at the school reception. Please return completed order form and the correct money to the marked box at the front office by Friday 15th March (Week 6). It would be helpful if you could seal securely the money and order form together.

If you prefer to make an electronic payment, or have any questions, please contact me on email stromlocbs@hotmail.com for bank details. If you would like confirmation that I have received your form and payment, please add your email address to this paper or order form before it is returned.

School Board Elections – Parents and Citizens Member

Voting information and ballot forms were distributed to all students in their final class of the day yesterday. If this form did not make it home, spare copies are available from the front office. Voting opens 28th February at 11am and closes Thursday 7th March at 11:00am. Good luck to all the candidates!
