PE in the AM

Dear Stromlo Community,

Staff at Mount Stromlo High School are putting together a proposal to implement a free community fitness program – PE in the AM. Please take five minutes to provide us with some data so we can tailor the program to your needs – your responses will help us shape the proposal.  We hope to develop a program of physical activity and nutrition sessions aimed at improving the overall health of our community.

We appreciate your time in completing this survey and ask that you do so by 9:00am, Monday (24/3/2014).

Many thanks,

Mount Stromlo High School

Instrumental Lessons

In 2014 Mount Stromlo High School has a number of instrumental teachers available to teach private lessons. Students are able to have individual tuition on an instrument of their choice, including Piano, Trumpet, Violin, Flute and Vocals.

During lessons students will have the opportunity to work on music for upcoming performances as well as general improvement of students’ playing which may include work on additional solo repertoire, tone and techniques. If interested, students will also have the opportunity to prepare for and sit AMEB grade exams.

If you are interested in instrumental lessons please contact Alex Morton, or 6205 6139 for further information.

If you are finishing with Stromlo High School uniforms you could donate them to be reused.

If they are in good, clean condition would you mark them in a bag “used uniforms for resale” and leave them at student services.

The P&C will sell them at school the day that books are collected at the end of January.

If a Parent has time to oversee this day’s sale please contact Jenny on

Thank you.

Indonesian Pathways (Stromlo visits Chapman Primary)

Yet again the Stromlo High School Indonesian class has made their Indonesian teacher pink with pride, representing our school beautifully on a visit this afternoon to Chapman Primary.

Six students joined Bu Ce, the Indonesian teacher, to talk to year 5/6 classes at our feeder-primary school about what it’s like to study a language at Stromlo.

Students spoke about how learning a language you have already studied can be a huge advantage, but that it’s also possible to pick up a brand new language in year 7. One student waxed lyrical about the great Indonesian excursion to the ANU last week, while others talked about what a useful and fun language Indonesian can be.

Bu Ce is brimming with pride for all of her industrious Indonesian students, who have worked hard all year and learned so much.

She wishes to say “terima kasih banyak” (thanks very much) to the six Stromlo Ambassadors who braved public-speaking in order to represent their school and the Indonesian program.

A big thanks to the wonderful Tracy Foggett at Chapman Primary School for hosting our visit in the library.
